Who Am I?
It’s me, Mollie!
Hello! I’m Mollie, an experienced educator, Spanish speaker, and highly curious individual. I pivoted my career to UX Design in 2021 when I realized I had been creating unique, deliberate, and tested user experiences for years as a Spanish teacher. Since I had limited resources and sometimes no textbook, I often had to create my own products. When I saw that my work paralleled the design thinking process-BAM-that was it and I sought out down a new path in UX.
While creating my Spanish curriculum, I had to make the huge topic of the Spanish language digestible that is, start from single words, phrases, and sentences and build paragraphs and pages. I designed products that created a consistent experience for my learners across different materials: in slides presentations, lessons, worksheets, etc. Instrcutions were specific, simple, and achieveable. The materials intenionally supported my students’ goal of learning Spanish. Along the way I gained skills in visual communication, collaboration, influencing without authority, and precise use of language.
I am a naturally organized, logical, and curious person. If my students were ever confused about my instructions or struggling to comprehend what I communicating I saw that my product needed adjustment-not that my students weren’t trying hard enough. In this same spirit I fully embrace asking questions, seeking feedback and continually it eratingin UX Design.
My hope is to bring my experience and knowledge back to the educational space by working on EdTech products. I am also interested in wellness, outdoors, fitness and mental health.
